Affordable Honeymoon Destinations!

A honeymoon is the first adventure a new married couple experiences together. It is important that it is unique to the interest of both parties. After spending on your wedding, you may be feeling like you don’t have a lot of options for destinations for your honeymoon. Below are three ideas of locations that you can go that won't hurt your wallet but ensure enjoyment for you and new spouse!

Whether you're looking for tropical weather, incomparable scenery, or colonial style architecture you have options. Here are some of the destinations you might want to consider:

Mexico

If you're set on a tropical destination Mexico might be the right pick for you. With breath-taking beaches and just the right amount of culture, it is always a good time in Mexico. The night life is something that attracts many of the tourists, along with the landscapes and incredible weather. All-inclusive trips help cut some of your main costs like food or beverage and entertainment. Who can really resist the sand, the sun, and the waves?

Ireland

Formally one of the most expensive places to travel in the West of Europe, Ireland is priced much more ideal now. The more condensed part of Ireland still remains around the same prices but across the west coast they have become more economical. People go for the scenery; the rolling hills, and endless green. Little villages are scattered across the west coast displaying how quaint Ireland truly is. These villages are full of kind locals who are known around the world for their caring manner. It makes for a perfect romantic getaway, the one we've been dreaming of since we watched "P.S. I Love You". (by the way.. we LOVE that movie!!!)

honeymoon

Montreal

If you're looking to really keep the budget down. Plan your honeymoon locally. Montreal is Canada's own little piece of Europe; bursting with culture, wonderful food, and a great music scene. There is plenty of gorgeous architecture to experience while you explore the streets and shops. If you're looking for some fun, Montreal attracts people of all ages for the night life. All in all, Montreal is our own little taste of culture shock here in Canada and makes for an inexpensive but incredible choice.

Keep in mind, many countries that are expensive have less expensive options. If you want to travel somewhere popular, look for surrounding cities that are easily accessible to help with lowering the cost of hotels, B&Bs and other sleeping arrangements.

Bottom line - do your research and give yourself the time to do so.  Planning ahead is key.

The more time you have to save and plan the closer to your ideal getaway you will be!

Be sure to pin these fab locales to your vison board! Get those ideas flowing:)

Candlelight Candle Bright! ~ Charlotte's Favourite Things...

I absolutely LOVE how a candle can make the ambiance of a room change within seconds without spending tonnes of money on elaborate decorations.

Try adding small subtle candles to your wedding venue and see how quickly the romance lights up (literally).

Try adding candles to your walk way to add a whimsical look to your entrance. It adds such a glow that will make your guests feel warm and fuzzy inside!

Putting a touch of tea light candles in the midst of your centre pieces can really liven up the space and not break the bank. Just one more thing to help with your perfect day!

Charlotte's Favourite Things!

Hello Ladies!

So excited to do my first blog of Charlotte's Favourite Things and to share with you some of my *guilty pleasures* when it comes to weddings and events!

This week I'm going to be touching on something I feel most brides struggle with... finding the PERFECT dress for all your beautiful bridesmaids! Yes, you love each and every one of them dearly, but when it comes to planning a wedding, sometimes these lovely friends of yours can get a little picky with the dress you choose for them.

Now it's one thing to look online and see a breath-taking picture of a wedding party who look magnificent all in the same dress... however, did you ever notice that most of these women are all the same size and shape? I don't know about you ladies, but that isn't always the case! So finding the "perfect" dress for all your girls now has just become a little bit harder.

But don't panic! Here is MY favourite thing when it comes to bridesmaids dresses for the modern bride.

"Twist" or "wrap" dresses are the latest fashion for getting the most styles out of one simple purchase! Not only are these amazing twist dresses good for differentiating between bridesmaids without them looking too different but they also are made of a more flexible fabric to help accentuate the best parts of each bridesmaid you have selectively chosen.

With most brides now-a-days, they like the idea of each bridesmaids looking a little different from each other, however, these twist dresses not only do that but they also help each bridesmaid pick what style makes them feel the best in their own skin!

Some girls who are full-figured have a difficult time wearing strapless or shoulder-revealing dresses because they feel like they're always having to pull up "the girls" all night. And vice versa with girls who are on the smaller-chested side, they feel too congested on the top if there are heavy straps or cap-sleeves holding the bust area up.

As you can see ladies, this is a simple solution with these twist dresses as they come in so many different styles that you personalize to each bridesmaid! So you can have one bridesmaid with a two shoulder strap and the other bridesmaid with a strapless top to the exact same dress! How amazing!

Working in Bridal Retail, I have seen so many girls come in and out looking for something that is going to fit and suit every one of their needs, but sometimes it is nearly impossible to make everyone happy. However, I have seen this type of dress go such a long way with a variety of girls (who also LOVE the idea of re-wearing these dresses for another occasion) and I would recommend every bridal party give it a try!

Keep up the happy planning!

Where Do We Get Married?

Do you picture yourself as a non-traditional bride?
Don't have too many affiliations with a close church or place of worship?

It seems to be more and more popular these days for young couples to be more creative with what space they choose for their magical day. Whether it be for the ceremony or the reception, more and more brides and grooms seem to be looking away from traditional banquet halls and venues.

Here are a few suggestions for you and your loved one to consider...

Outdoor weddings are beautiful and always romantic for a very non-traditional take on your ideal wedding venue, however there are many factors that come into play when deciding inside or outside.
What time of year is it going to be?
What is the average weather forecast for your city/town around that time?
Is it easy to switch from outside to inside if there is a freak storm that randomly comes your way?
All of these are things to consider when you and your beloved are discussing where to say your "I do's".

Another beautiful idea that modern brides are doing is having their ceremonies and receptions within botanical gardens or conservatories! How amazing would it be if you were walking down the aisle with butterflies floating all around the room?! So romantic!

Not too into butterflies, but love animals? Another amazing idea is to hold your wedding at a local zoo!

Your guests will rave about the beautiful scenery and the exotic take on your special day and will never be able to forget how exciting the whole experience was!

If either of these nature-esque settings sound appealing to you, make sure to consider your guests as well before saying "Yes!" to the venue.

As well as beautiful venues to rent out like the ones we have previously listed above, it seems to be a trending idea to have your amazing day at a familiar family barn.
Asking your Aunt and Uncle for the barn for reception would probably make them happier than you could ever imagine and keep the beautiful memories of your wedding forever on that land. Sounds so touching!

Whatever you decide to do with your wedding space make sure it represents you both as a couple.
Your guests want to be surrounded by your kind of love and not a "cookie-cutter" version.

So make sure you're sticking true to what fits both your personalities and sit back to enjoy the most magical night of your life unveil!

Until Next Time,

Charlotte

Wedding Favours for your Favourites!

Worried that your wedding favours won't get used once your guests leave?
Not to fret! With these simple ideas, your friends and family will only be wanting more!

When choosing party favours make sure they are relatable to not only your theme but also to the season!  It may not make sense if you are giving out small jam jars if your wedding is in the middle of winter.  Always consider external factors too!  If you are having a rustic outdoor wedding, incorporating natural elements into your gifts is a creative way to keep your theme tied into the idea.  For example, beautiful cloth bags with 'outdoor-sy' aspects are an exceptional way to give your guests just what they want and make sure your vision is creatively displayed.

Another great way to select your perfect gift for your guests is by asking yourself... 'what do people use often?'.  Seems like such a simple question but it is such a helpful way to make sure your gifts are being used as well as admired!

A few examples of gifts that people can use are personalized wine corks. These simple party favours can be used over and over again and will remind your loving friends and family of that beautiful day you all spent together! Putting you and your partners' initials or the wedding date on the top is a lovely touch to make this simple item a timeless present.
Another example could be small and delicate candles for your favours. The scent of these beautiful gifts are sure to make your guests smell the aroma of love every time they light them.

Amongst these great ideas, think about adding a little humour to the mix!  Nothing says 'fun' like a quick, clever joke to go along with the party favours!  Simple but witty sayings will make sure your guests get a kick out of their thoughtful gifts and leave everyone smiling even after your special day.

Never forget to keep in mind your budget.  The last thing you want is to have spent your money excessively in this area.  Shop the "going out of business" and after Christmas sales.  Buy items in bulk.  Take advantage of online resources such as EBAY and Kijiji.  Always be on the lookout for great deals  There's nothing wrong with that!  If you start early enough.... you will have plenty of time to do the legwork and find something that is cost effective and perfect for your guests.
Here are some more fun ideas that you may not have considered.

Love this one!  It has such a "down home" feel!  Total Southern comfort!
Perfect for that outdoor celebration!

For a little touch of chic... why not mini champagne?  If it fits your budget it can be a contender!

Why not some tea or coffee?  Everyone loves that!  Head out to a local market or grab some Fair Trade Coffee.  Package a single serving in a recyclable bag or box.  Keep it eco friendly!

Just remember, your gifts are such a nice touch to the celebration that they should be filled with lots of love and joy as well! If you need help with any of these party favours, ask for advice from others to get the inside scoop on what they might want!
Never a bad idea to combine a few ideas to create the best wedding favours for your lovely day!

Until next time my lovelies!!!

Inspiration Fridays – On trend with ‘something old’ - 1920s theme!

Do you love vintage and all the glam of the 1920’s? You are not alone as this popular theme is appearing at more weddings. With a remake of The Great Gatsby coming to our screens soon, many couples are looking to mirror the era and style for their big day. You will see the flappers and dapper grooms alongside the crystal decanters, whiskey and all that jazz!

The Art deco, jewellery adornments and feathers exuded decadence from the women and the men showed their sophistication with their suit jackets, waistcoats and bowler hats.

And for you Downton Abbey fans less roaring 20s and more classy garden tea parties…

Trendy Mondays – Stroke of genius…your Wedding on canvas!

For the past few years painters have been offering their services to capture your event live as it unfolds before their eyes. They are known as live event painters/artists and are invited to paint at all kinds of celebrations from birthdays, anniversaries and of course weddings.

Why consider this you ask? Well for the art lover, you probably don’t need much persuasion; the concept surely speaks for itself! With everything being digital and instant these days through the dominance of social media; photos from events are abundant on Facebook, Instagram and many more platforms. Your wedding day pictures deserve to be more than a passing photo that shows up on a newsfeed next to a viral craze.  Have that precious day recorded on canvas and hang it up for the years to come as a reminder of your gorgeous wedding day and the happiness you felt.  Display it proud and don’t let it be a distant memory hidden in an album somewhere.

Here are some memorable highlights of a wedding captured on canvas:

The painting evolves during the wedding and can be a form of entertainment with the masterpiece being presented at the end for all guests to see.  Couples can request what they want beforehand and normally work with the artist to make sure the right people are in position or even added after! We whole-heartedly believe that this "old school" medium is worth every penny!

~Trendy Mondays~ Will you be my Bridesmaid?

One way to start off the wedding planning process is to pop the question and ask your "girls" if they would like to be a part of your journey!  I'm sure that you've probably already decided who those special girls will be (admit it ...some of you even knew before you became engaged!).  Whatever the case, you can approach asking them in some very unique and fun ways!

To start the juices flowing...here are some ideas that we've found in our travels!  Make it something they will never forget!

Our personal favourite...

Whichever way you decide to "pop the question", have some fun with it!  You will love the look on their faces!
