Afzia's Favorite Things!

With the extremely "winter" weather we have been having here...I thought it would be a nice thing to focus your thoughts on something a little more pretty.

One of my favourite things is just looking at beautiful flowers!  They have the ability to brighten someone's day and put a smile on their face ...in an instant

Why not brighten someone's day today?

It doesn't take much.

Stay warm!

Lastly, the ever timeless roses are an amazing way to keep tradition alive with elegance. Having these flowers in a softer tone such as light pink, peach or cream allows for these bold beauties to soften your guests taste buds when it comes to overwhelming decor. The subtle but powerful presence of the rose leaves brides wanting them in every season!

Make sure when you are looking into flower decor that you consult your Florist on what the perfect match would be for these gorgeous bouquets so that you're keeping the theme consistent! Matching the decor that you already have to the flowers can be tricky so make sure to ask the experts.

With remembering your budget and asking the experts, consider these wedding favourites as a lovely way to tie your bouquets or decor into the essence of springtime love; forever blooming and continually growing.

Until next time!

Seeing Shades of Pink!

When you first think of "pink" you may picture a shade something along the lines of Hubba Bubba bubble gum.... at least that is what comes to mind for me!

Well that's not all that this wonderful colour is all about!!!

In the world of wedded bliss, the gloves come off and we can see that there is so much more to PINK than simply Hubba Bubba Bubble gum!

Rings

Why not start where it all begins...  the *sparkle*!  Whether it's a solid pink stone or just an accent, the shade gives your ring a certain unique touch that sets it apart from the traditional engagement ring.  Gentlemen you've got quite the task ahead of you!  There's so much to choose from.  You better know your lady well :)

Flowers

Now that we have the bling taken care of... let's talk about something we love.  The loveliness that is flowers!  Whether they be the romantic type or have that wow factor, they are a statement that is made starting right at the ceremony.  A favourite these days are the peony (*sigh* ... so romantic!).  Lush and beautiful it is perfect for that romantic celebration that will just take everyone's breath away.... such a feel-good choice for your florals!

Now if you've chosen pink as part of your colour palette, it does not mean you have to saturate your whole day with it.  You can have it incorporated as a subtle detail with different textures.  For example your bouquets... a hint of pink will be enough to create the feeling you are hoping to achieve.  Such lovely combinations are shown below... don't rule anything out :)

We will be back with more pink wedding goodness...

Enjoy!

Just Because....Day 81

This bouquet is absolutely gorgeous!  Vibrant colours, a stunning brooch and the choice of blooms make it such an eye-catching piece!

The combination of Calla lilies, Amaryllis, Roses and Plumeria work so perfectly together!  The plumeria especially gives it such an exotic feel!  Perfect for a destination wedding and great because they are artificial!  No worries on not being able to get the colour you want or wilting blooms!

~ Style Wednesdays ~ Boutonnieres for Men!

Every now and then we like to throw in something for the men.

There are no set rules but it is usually those in the wedding party and close family who wear boutonnieres as recognition of the couple honoring them. Some may choose to extend it to the ushers or ceremony readers.

The groom should wear it on his left lapel (closest to his heart!) and should have something different to the groomsmen as it is his big day! Traditionally you could wear a single bloom like a rose bud or carnation but with so much variety why not choose something different. Check out some of our favourites.

The Knot have so many on their website, it was hard to choose but here are a few we liked.

From Martha Stewart Weddings we found some truly unique ones which have something special about them.

How about these beaded ones that can be can also double as a keepsake from the big day.

Some DIY ideas from the Crepe paper flower to the Ribbon bloom. It is an inexpensive way to go.

Pink Nerines in two styles (left) decorated with a button and pink ribbon or (right) some good luck from a Japanese Knotted boutonniere made from Mizuhiki cord.

Whatever your choice jut make sure it is reflecting YOUR personalties!

Definitely have fun with it!  Like this one...

~Tip Tuesdays~ Choosing your bridal bouquet!

Kitchener Wedding Planner PlanningYes we all have our favourite blooms and colours but is that enough to select your bouquet?

You will be carrying this as part of your outfit for most of the day so it deserves some special attention and consideration.

Where does one start to build this accessory?

Here are a few tips that will hopefully result in you creating your perfect bunch of floral beauties!

Know your budget- This is important to discuss earlier on so your florist can create and adapt a design to suit your financial capabilities.

Visual Inspiration give your florist an insight to what you want and discuss colour palette options. Consider your wedding theme and current trends you might want to incorporate.

Complement your dress - show your florist a picture of your wedding gown so you can reflect the details, style and shape but don’t steal the lime light from your dress by going over the top.

Colour - it is important to highlight the colours in your dress. Getting the right shades together with the right bloom is an art. Take swatches to your florist if possible.

Size and shape – believe it or not your frame dictates your bouquet to enhance your figure and dress. Petite brides should go with teardrop shaped bouquets or a small round posy to keep you in proportion. The taller bride should distract the attention from their height with a larger bouquet.

Tis the season – some flowers are not available all year round or are really expensive. Go with the seasonal flowers make it easier to source and less expensive.

Personalize – Maybe a flower that has meaning like the ones he brought you on your first date.  A family heirloom brooch, lace from an old gown or just add something different to reflect your personality. (remember it doesn’t all have to be floral!)

Kitchener Wedding Planner Planning Kitchener Wedding Planner Planning

Bridesmaid’s bouquets – consider coordinating it with the brides or a similar smaller version.  You can diversify it by contrasting the colours or how about a simple single stem?

 Kitchener Wedding Planner Planning

Holding the masterpiece – for a picture perfect posture it looks better in one hand below the hip and slightly away from your dress. (Never hold it at chest level!)

To toss or preserve – you can opt for the traditions of a bouquet toss or keep your flowers.

  Kitchener Wedding Planner Planning

Whatever you choose, remember to keep a flow throughout your celebrations.  You don't want to have a feel about your reception that is disconnected.

You may need to have a second set of eyes to give you some feedback because we know that the process can become "blurry" and overwhelming after looking at it so long!  That's where a friend or wedding coordinator can offer their advice.  You may end up choosing something that you never thought you would!

Regardless, just enjoy the journey!

Happy Planning!
